It has been officially announced that, as of July 9th 2009, Arihara Kanna is no longer part of Hello!Project.

It was expected, but I still find it very sad.

I was always hoping that she would be back. She´s cute, funny and a decent singer and dancer. All their upcoming PVs and concerts will feel a bit empty without her.

I´ll miss you Kanna.

Wasn't a big fan of hers but it's sad to see her go out on a case of bunions, which IMO is quite unfair.

Hope there's something for her to do in the outside world...

I knew it. There are rumours that she had a boyfriend so the bunion thing may not be the whole reason. According to Hello-Online some pictures of Kanna may have shown up which put UFA management in a difficult position

Anyhow, this is sad news. While it's tempting to be critical of UpFront, I can't imagine too many idol production companies would have given her this much support. It's been so long, they obviously gave the doctors every chance to get her feet into shape, but to no avail.

In the end, it has to be the right decision. Better that she look after her health than be forced into a painful and uncertain future.

Since I'm not really big on the kid groups she's just another face in C-ute to me. Well it sucks losing a member but since being away that long it was bound to happen. I wish her luck with whatever she does.

Kanna-chan, you shall be missed. I'll be patient though and see what happens - since I am wota (although, not like the wota in that pic....). Whatever the end, I will continue to support Kanna.

It was announced back in February 2009 that Kanna would be taking leave from all group activities due to hallux valgus, or bunion deformity. °C-ute immediately carried on without her, and she was absent from concerts and all °C-ute singles and photoshoots. Fans grew suspicious as the reported recovery time for hallux valgus is usually six to eight weeks, yet she has been gone for well over four months.

This is not official, but an inside source tells Hello!Online that there was more at play here. Firstly, it had been long rumored that Kanna had a boyfriend, which is forbidden in her contract. But our source also indicates that there were new images including Kanna that put Up-Front Agency management in a tough position.

It's possible UFA knew more about Kanna's situation before the "bunion" story came out and quickly removed Kanna from the public eye.

So was there actually a bunion problem? Perhaps we'll never know. What is certain is that Arihara Kanna's time in Hello!Project has come to an abrupt end.

I see. Actually the bunion story looks a little unlikely.... Not a surprise. Many young idols careers have come to an end due to that kind of 'scandal'....
Such a pity, anyway. It's always a sad moment when some girl quits H!P...

Anything's possible, but that sounds more like a conspiracy theory than anything. And as far as the 6-8 weeks thing goes, let me tell you, I knew a girl when I was at school who had bunions. She was in and and out of hospital with a series of operations over the better part of half a year. She went through a lot of pain, walking was really hard for her. And *she* wasn't a professional dancer.

I'm inclined to give Kanna and UFA the benefit of the doubt over an unnamed source.

I must agree with Cotton Cloth here. There is no evidence that it was anything more than the bunions - and so I refuse to believe anything other than what Kanna has said because what kind of fan would I be if I didn't trust her words?

People keep saying that they hope she goes on to do other things, become an artist or a model where dancing isn't necissary. Despite Kanna being my favourite member of C-ute, I don't want to see this. I'm definately gonna miss her, and I must admit I shed my fair share of tears when the news came out, but this is for the best. By leaving like this and going back to a normal life, it gives closure on the whole ordeal. I'm happy in the same way that I was when V-U-DEN were officially disbanded, I'd have hated for them to be just pushed to the side and left there like Coconuts Musume's Ayaka was, or like Yasuda Kei was. It's over. No more worry. And she can be happy now with a normal life, getting married, starting a family and not dissapearing into obscurity somewhere in the entertainment world. She deserves a good life after all that she has done for her fans, and she deserves our support even though she has gone.

Oh yeah, I agree... But I like to think that she just wanted to go back to a normal life, spending more time with friends and doing all those things a sixteen girl loves to do. This way, resigning from H!P is a personal choice, and I like it better. Idols lifestyle is restricted after all, and what popularity gives them with one hand, it takes with the other somehow...

But if the bunions story is the truth, well, poor Kanna! All these years of hard work to be a C-ute member and now...

That was really inspiring.

Bunions really suck, if that story is true I hope she gets them taken care of.
