Recently formed idol duo SHIPS 2nd single Kimi ga Iru has sold rather diastrously selling only 790 copies in it’s first two weeks on sale.

The single peaked at #140 in the Oricon Charts.
Information from Totally Hello!Project (http://totallyhelloproject.wordpress.com/2008/12/04/ships-2nd-single-diaster/)

Aww that's just very sad, i liked this single. Personally i thought this was better than the first xD
I guess UFA needs to promote them more, 790 copies in its first 2 weeks is really really bad ._.

Actually, to be honest. I prefered the 1st single. This is quite good though. But it feels like it's missing something. :/

I'm not a huge fan of ballads. I prefer their first single.

It's pretty easy to see why it didn't sell. The song/video looks like it's pitched at 11-13 year-old girls. The anime it ties into skews *much* younger.

The four to seven year-old girls who pestered their mummies into buying them the Koharu CDs wouldn't have much interest in this unit. And your mainstream H!P wota would just yawn and move on.

Frankly 740 CDs sounds inflated to me.

Well, I don't know if you've seen this performance of Tokyo Friendships, but they do have their own breed of wota...

The biggest difference being that these wota are 10-year old girls.

Most H!P wota wouldn't buy this because it's a boyband. Let's face it, the wota are only into female idols, that's why H!P and AKB48 are so popular among them.

But you're right. It does seem that they don't quite know where their target audience lies.
