any fans? heh I only played some of the original 4 games but I just realised how majorly huge this franchise seems to be! I like the story but as I've not managed to finish it (I'm not even close lol) I can't even guess whats going on! :P

I really like the anime series (both .hack//SIGN and .hack//ROOTS), I also own the 4 original games for ps2 but I got bored about halfway through the third. I liked the story so far but I couldn´t manage to play through four games where you do the same thing all the time =/.
Could´ve been great if they had added a bit more variation.

yeah, if I tell the truth, I only played some of (1st 2 lol) the games, because it was just tap x tap x tap x oh tap triangle...oh no...I died...tap x tap x tap x...oh look...a friend...lets go off and email them...oh...they talked some garbage about some Japanese thing I've never heard of...theres a surprise...go back into the world...tap x tap x tap x...you see where I'm going?

but i did like the idea you got e-mails from the friends heh

I might start playing again...I am tempted...

Yeah that´s pretty much it :P
I just remembered that you can ride and race with those cow-like creatures in the second game. Running through checkpoints in a certain time to get a prize. that was pretty fun.
I really hope that I will continue to play sometime. I still want to know the end of the story, but all the tapping hurts my thumb :/ (and it´s really boring :P).

I wouldn't consider myself the biggest fan of the franchise but I do love .hack//

I watched through .hack//SIGN and .hack//DUSK. I also read the mangas of the latter (should really call it Legend of the Twilight, but DUSK is easier. Just because you may be a purist doesn't mean I have to be. :P)

I have the first 4 games but got fairly bored about halfway through .hack//MUTATION... :P

I've also watched the entire OVA series. Y'know, the ones that came free inside the box of each game? :P

I think I´ve watched .hack//DUSK, but I´m not sure since I can´t remember what it was about (but I recognize the name "Legend of the Twilight").

I also watched the OVA series that came with the games, I think it was pretty good.

DUSK, the manga and the anime were totally differant. (So much so, that the events in the anime aren't actually considered part of the .hack// canon.)

Basically, when the manga was being written some producers decided to make an anime based on the manga. But anime episodes are always made quicker than manga chapters, so as a result the anime sped ahead, having to come up with their own story, and only the first 4 or so episodes are identical to the manga.

Basically they both follow the adventures of Shugo and Rena (for a second there I almost spelled that like Reina. XD), two new players who won the characters of Kite and Black Rose (the main protagonists in the games) in a contest...

Yeah. It's probably because it's basically the same name but a differant spelling. (Pronounced the same way and only one letter off. :P)
